Jen and Andy
Andy and I met on through a mutual friend on a blind date. At the time, I was living in Cedar Falls and attending UNI, and Andy was living and working in Allison. We quickly found out we had a lot in common and had a great time together. Some of our favorite memories from this time are Pizza Sunday (every Sunday night was pizza night!), taking fun weekend trips, and just being goofy together :)
Although the 45 minute commute to see each other was hard, we both knew it was well worth it! In the summer of 2009, we decided to move in together and found a house to rent in Waverly. The next spring we started looking at houses to buy and found the perfect place in Shell Rock, and we are in the process of remodeling it. And although remodeling is very stressful, we enjoy doing it together and know it has made our relationship stronger!
After 3 years together, I knew in my heart that Andy was the man I wanted to marry and spend my life with. In December 2011, Andy surprised me with a beautiful, sparkling proposal! I love taking pictures and have taken some fun, long-exposure shots with sparklers, so Andy dug out the sparklers and told me we were going to take some pictures at our friends house. He set up the camera in their driveway and wrote a message. When the picture showed up on the camera screen, I couldnt tell what it said because the lens had been zoomed in too far! When I asked Andy what it said, he replied, Its supposed to say Marry me!" I was completely surprised! Of course I said yes, and we took another picture so everyone could see Andys sparkler handiwork. Now we are in the process of planning our wedding day, and could not be more excited!
Some hobbies we enjoy are golfing, playing with our dogs Tucker and Teegan, cooking together, watching college football (he is an ISU fan, and I am an Iowa fan... a house divided!) spending time with our families, and anything outside when the weather is nice grilling, biking, walking, and having barbeques with our friends!
